Meridian Taps Bob Hubert to Lead Design Engineering Team

Aberdeen, N.C. –  June 22, 2015 – Meridian has named Bob Hubert as its new Manager of Design Engineering. Hubert will lead Meridian’s team of design engineers as well as play an integral role in its UL self-certification process at Meridian’s global headquarters in Aberdeen, N.C.

Hubert has over 20 years of experience in product development and manufacturing. He comes to Meridian from Culer, Inc. (formerly Auramist, Inc.), a global consumer products company that specializes in personal cooling devices. At Culer, Hubert managed all aspects of product development, from initial concept through production. He was directly involved in the company’s setup and review of all manufacturing processes and procedures.

“Design Engineering is critical to Meridian’s concept to completion model,” said Meridian CEO Chris Gilder. “Bob understands that form and function are equally important to our producing the best solutions for our customers.”

Hubert and his family relocated to Sandhills of North Carolina from Cocoa, Florida, where they had spent the last 20 years. “I’m used to a 60-plus mile commute to and from work every day,” said Hubert. “It is amazing to be able to live in such a great place and Meridian is just down the road.”

Hubert began his engineering career at Play Pal, Inc., a provider of custom made playgrounds used in parks, schools, restaurants and private homes. Initially hired as an assembly technician, Hubert transitioned into the world of design after only 18 months.

“Bob is the best kind of guy to lead a team,” said Meridian President Buck Warren. “He has made his way through the ranks; but it all began with the end product in mind – our engineers have to have that mindset. That’s why we are excited to have him leading that team.”

“I am excited to be part of such a talented team here at Meridian,” said Hubert. “It is impressive work that has been done to get the company where it is today. I am looking forward to making the team stronger and surpassing even our own expectations.”
